Decorating for Easter

Hooray - it's April! The evenings are lighter now that the clocks have gone forward and spring is moving along apace. Although we've had some very windy and wet weather (a fence panel blew down the night before last), there has been some sunshine today which has been very welcome indeed.

Here is the April page of my calendar - those pale blues really do appeal to me, as you can see here!

I've been getting things ready for Easter here, and making the house look spring-like. I don't put up as many decorations as I do at Christmas as Easter is a smaller celebration here, but I have built up a small collection over the years. I always decorate leafy branches with little eggs, and this year was lucky enough to be given some gorgeous willow branches full of fluffy little catkins. My friend had these off-cuts and thought I'd like them - I certainly did! Aren't they lovely?

I like to pop these sweet little fluffy chicks along the shelves of our dresser. I used to buy them with my pocket money at Easter when I was a child, and love their pretty pastel colours.

I think they have a lot of character!

These little Easter egg candles are easy to store in this egg-box.

And this large box holds all of our little eggs which hang on the tree. I've been collecting them for a few years. Some are decorated by our children when they were little, and are painted and covered in glitter.

Others were painted by me when the children were at primary school. I think I was inspired to paint these four eggs after seeing some similar bought ones.

Finally I hung up the pink and blue bunting which I made a few years ago for D and which she has now grown out of. I was very happy to add it to my Easter decoration collection. You can also see the crocheted Easter wreath which I made a year or two ago, inspired by Lucy's wreath at Attic 24.

Here's a closer look - I really enjoyed making this in my favourite soft shades of cotton.

I also parceled up some little gifts for my two dear little nephews - tiny puppets and chocolate goodies. I think they'll enjoy them.

Hope you're enjoying your Easter preparations too and that you enjoy a bit of sunshine this week!

  4. What lovely cheery photos - all the ones I have taken this week seem to be really gloomy looking. Your Easter decorations are beautiful - we also have an Easter tree with decorations that the girls have made over the years; they are very precious aren't they? Do you mind if I ask the name of the pink colour on the wall behind your tree? It's lovely and I'm looking for a subtle pink for our living room when we finally get around to decorating! Have a brilliant Easter weekend. x

    1. Yes, it was tricky finding moments when the sun came out to take my photos. Do you know, our dining room wall is not pink at all - it's a kind of off-white, but it does look really pink in the photos, doesn't it? We have lots of berry shades and dark pinks in our living room, though, and it makes for a warm, cosy room. Have a lovely Easter!
